Permanent Magnet Synchronous and Brushless DC Motor Drives

Books on permanent magnet (PM) ac machine drives have focused primarily on the design of the machines and have covered the control and converters for these drives only in an elementary manner. In the last two decades, research and development on control strategies and their subsequent implementation have been reported in journal publications and presented at conferences. The knowledge base of these publications and conference proceedings is yet to be cohesively made available in a book through a systematic dissemination to both industrial and academic audiences. With regard to power electronics associated with these drive systems, the three-phase bridge inverter has been used as the standard for a very long time.
