T-Kernel是有日本计算机结构知名学者、东京大学教授、工学博士坂村健提出的,并是以T-Engine系统为核心的一款免费标准开源的实时操作系统,T-Kernel继承了μITRON的技术,并进一步强化了实时OS。 T-Kernel从功能上可以分为T-Kernel/OS(Operating System)、T-Kernel/SM(System Manager)和T-kernel/DS(Debugger Support)3部分。 1、T-Kernel/OS是T-Kernel的核心部分,实现其任务管理和同步控制等作为实时OS的基本功能,相当于过去μITRON功能部分。 2、T-Kernel/SM提供设备驱动程序和系统内存的管理等系统总体管理功能,其功能是在T-Kernel中由μITRON扩展的功能。 3、T-Kernel/DS提供调试器开发工具的功能,因此,如果进行通常的编程,就不需要意识到T-Kernel/DS的存在。 与μITRON一样,T-Kernel把作为操作对象的资源称为核心对象或简称为对象。任务、周期性处理程序、信号量和邮箱等都属于核心对象。编制T-Kernel上的程序,可以说就是操作核心对象。 任务是T-Kernel上的程序执行单位,应用程序通常由一个或多个任务组成。各任务由T-Kernel控制,根据各个人物所被认定的优先顺序,进行分时执行。 T-Kernel包括用于微控制器的μT-Kernel、微处理器的T-Kernel、多核处理器的MP T-Kernel。 T-Kernel一个突出的特点通过T-Kernel/SE支持MMU的内存管理和文件系统功能。MMU是实现内存保护和虚拟内存的硬件,在标准T-Engine的CPU中,是必须具备的。不使用MMU时,程序运行于被安装的物理内存上的物理地址空间上。
