VLE是研究复杂动态系统的多模型和仿真环境。 VLE基于离散事件规范DEVS。 它实现了DSDE形式（动态结构DEVS，DSDEVS与并行DEVS，PDEVS的合并）。 VLE提供了一套完整的C ++库，称为VFL（VLE基础库），用于开发DEVS模型，获取仿真结果，在集群上启动仿真。 可以使用DEVS形式主义或经典数学形式主义来开发模型：带有Euler的常微分方程，Range-Kutta或QSS积分器，有限状态自动机（FDDEVS，UML状态图，混合Petri网）。 VLE环境提供了一个IDE，用于开发C ++模型，DEVS耦合模型。 VLE还具有三个端口，可将VFL与Python，Java和R编程语言一起使用。
